Two pictures of our Mesmerising drive to Batalik

Written by Poorna & Brinda

Batalik is a small village in Kashmir which became famous during Kargil war of 1999.

In June this year when were driving back from Leh to Srinagar, our Driver Imtiaz wanted to check if we are game to drive through Batalik instated of regular highway. We were game for it. It was the most memorable drive. The colours of the mountains and valleys were mesmerising. The drive along Indus river till Batalik was mind-blowingly beautiful.

Here we present two pictures. Please click them to see in larger size.

We remembered these places when we read about the heroic deeds of our soldiers in carrying out the surgical attacks across the border. This was one of the key war front in Kargil war in 1991. For a traveller, these are just beautiful mountains. But looking at the terrain and to imagine our troops fought and won overcoming the hardship brought tears to our eyes.

Poorna & Brinda

We are Brinda and Poorna from Bengaluru, the “Silicon city” or “Garden city” of India.

We travel together. We caught the travel bug 20 years back. On our honey moon, we traveled over the sea, in the train, by bus and in an aircraft! Our adventures probably started in that year. It continues, ever since.
