Skywatch Friday – Gulmarg in April

Written by Poorna & Brinda

Gulmarg – “Meadow of Flowers” and Heaven in winter!

We were in Kashmir in April last year.

The objective was to visit the fabulous Tulip garden.

Since we had time, we clubbed Gulmarg in the itinerary. We had never seen it with its snow.

It had snowed heavily in Kashmir in the winter. Our driver, Mustafa was sure that we would see snow in Gulmarg.

His word came true as we drove uphill from Sonmarg to reach Gulmarg. It was snow all around.

We loved this sight. We clicked it around 11 in the morning. The sky was bright and blue. The snow was glowing in the morning sun. The two green bridges over streams is provide a nice contrast along with red walls of Golf hut.

Please click on the picture to see in larger version which is beautiful.

This is a golf course. When we went to Kashmir in rainy season in 2012, it was lovely green.

Gulmarg is the jewel of Kashmir. It is beautiful, whichever season you go. In winter, you can ski. In summer you can trek! The gondola ride is always an experience. Don’t miss visiting it when you go to Kashmir next.
