4 Hidden Getaways from Bangalore for Valentine’s day

“Hidden getaways from Bangalore for Valentine’s day? Are you kidding? Do we really have such places any more?”

We heard these questions when we were discussing hidden getaways to go for this Valentine’s day. As we started this discussion, more and more of our friends came with answers. It was a good list. We finalised these four which we find are “hidden getaways” in every sense. They are small. They are not resorts. And they are really special. A place where you can take your loved one. Some of them we have been to and others have been recommended by like minded friends. Check it out and see if you are lucky to get a place in any of them this Valentine’s day! (Also check 8 Quiet Hill Getaways from Bangalore for Valentine’s day and 5 Romantic getaways from Bangalore )

1 Gundimane – Jog Falls

Gundi in Kannada means “Deep pit”. This is the home of “Gundi Family”. Incidentally, Jog falls is colloquially known as “Jogada Gundi” in Kannada. We always wondered as to why no one took courage to open their homes in Sharavathi valley for visitors. Finally, three years back, we have Gundi family opening their fantastic home to visitors who love nature. This can be as remote as it can get. Something similar to Hulivana except that you can take your car!

2 Captain’s Bungalow – Chikmagalur

A charming little bungalow in the middle of verdant nature. This was recommended by a friend who love this place and has been there many times. It is tucked away in the Western Ghats! We were actually wondering at the name. Yes, it is owned by another Captain from Indian Army. Captain Gopinath of Deccan Aviation!

3 Mango Range Estate, Gudalur

If Captain’s Bungalow is a cute bungalow in the middle of a coffee estate tucked away in a remote valley, Sinnadorai Bungalow in Mango Range estate is an absolute hidden gem amidst a tea garden. We have loved all the three Sinnadorai Bungalows but this is something special! A heritage bungalow built by British, this is small and beautiful. When we went there for the first time, we had to really search for it as it is hidden away from the highway. Built on a small hill over looking lush tea garden, you have the company of Malabar Whistling Thrush in the morning!

4 Three Hills – Coorg

We didn’t know this place till a friend told about it. They had spent a wonderful and peaceful weekend here. What happens when you put up five cottages at the foothills of three hills in Coorg with streams and ponds around? Look at the picture below. This is what you can expect when you go to Three Hills! The place is hidden. If you want to enjoy the nature and be part of it and get rejuvenated, then go there.
