Monsoon clouds over Malnad!

Written by Poorna & Brinda

We love monsoon. We love rains. We love driving in rain in Western Ghats. The sheer beauty of nature ‘s transformation when it rains in Malnad overwhelms you.

We have had some memorable drives in Malnad in rain. When we read the news of monsoon hitting Kerala coast by end of May, our memories went back to those fantastic drives. Whether it is driving up Charmadi ghat on a misty morning or driving along the road flanked by lovely meadows in Sakleshpur or driving through the forests with myriad of waterfalls as company……….each of these journeys made us yearn for more.

If it is not driving in the torrential rain, we did a bit of trekking too. To Dudhsagar falls in the rain. On the railway track! This is the time to explore some of the loveliest waterfalls in India. They all come alive. If you are planning a trek in the rain, you need to be very careful and is recommended to go with a good guide after getting necessary permissions from the forest department. If you are not adventurous type, then sit and enjoy the raindrops sitting in a verandah with a book in hand.

Whatever, just get out of the city to be in the lap of mother nature. It will be prettiest at this time of the year. (Click on the pictures to see them in larger size)

Poorna & Brinda

We are Brinda and Poorna from Bengaluru, the “Silicon city” or “Garden city” of India.

We travel together. We caught the travel bug 20 years back. On our honey moon, we traveled over the sea, in the train, by bus and in an aircraft! Our adventures probably started in that year. It continues, ever since.
