Skywatch Friday – Colours of Nimaling

Written by Poorna & Brinda

Nimaling is the base camp for summiting Kongamaru La on Markha valley trek. We trekked in Markha valley in 2014. It was a mind blowing experience. Trekking for five days, staying in the open fields under the stars, walking along the lovely river in biting sun were all unforgettable memories.

The trek also helped us to see some of the most fascinating places on the earth. The landscape was mesmerising.

This picture was shot even as we were approaching the base camp at Nimaling. At 15,500 ft, this was the last stop before summiting Kongamaru La at 17,060 ft on next day. The weather was perfect. The valley was beautiful and mountains were colourful.

It was sunny and clear when we reached the base camp as you can see from the picture. It was windy though and the cold winds in the evening were numbing. We tucked ourselves into our sleeping bags only to wake up to an overcast sky and snowy morning! That’s how the weather changes in mountains!
