Skywatch Friday – Hampi, forever

Written by Poorna & Brinda

If you love photography, you will never be satiated by Hampi. It is a photographers’ paradise like no other place. The only other place we can think of in comparison may be Ladakh.

Having been to Hampi number of times, we have been surprised with new frame every time we come back. It may be some lovely boulders at sunset. Or a temple tank with a tower in the corner. Or a street scene. Hampi just amazes.

When we were in Hampi last time, we were exiting out of the place when Poorna saw this nice entrance gate in the rear view mirror of the car. He pulled over and clicked this picture.

The structure tells the story of Hampi. The capital grandiose of medieval world. It is also a metaphor for the destruction of the place by later invaders. We still have such examples as we saw in Palmyra, Syria recently.

Hampi has to be savoured. It can not be rushed. It makes you come back again and again.

Poorna & Brinda

We are Brinda and Poorna from Bengaluru, the “Silicon city” or “Garden city” of India.

We travel together. We caught the travel bug 20 years back. On our honey moon, we traveled over the sea, in the train, by bus and in an aircraft! Our adventures probably started in that year. It continues, ever since.
