The Itinerary
6.30 AM – Leave home and hit Old madras road. Take the outer ring road and join the Old Madras road at KR Puram. Those who are in the city can take the Old Madras Road from Indira Nagar and continue onto the highway.
8 AM – Breakfast at either “The Terminal” or “Nandi Grand” after Hosakote. We suggest having breakfast in any of these two places as it will give you some time before you start climbing in Antaragange.
8.45 AM – Drive straight to Anataragange.
9.45 AM – Arrive at Antaragange.
Park your car and start walking up the hill to the temple. Around 400 steps under a canopy of trees take you to the temple where you find “Antaragange” or “Subterranean Ganga” – where the water from natural spring flows through Nandi in the Kashi Vishveshwara temple complex. After visiting the temple, you can trek up the hill for another 30 minutes to enjoy panoramic vistas of the places around you. This place has many caves which can be explored if one is interested. Add additional time if you go for caving.
11.45 AM – Depart from Antaragange and head straight Someshwara temple at Kolar. A lovely temple of the Vijayanagar era, explore the beautiful sculpture of the temple and enjoy the serenity.
12.45 PM – Head to Kolaramma temple. Dedicated to Kolaramma, The town deity – The Kolar city takes the name from the Goddess name – this is smaller than Someshwara temple. But well laid out and nice. Spend 30 minutes in this place.
1.30 PM – Drive to Maiya’s restaurant on the highway. Have a nice lunch.
2.45 PM – Drive straight to Kotilingeshwara temple which is near Bangarpet.
3.30 PM – Arrive at the temple and get fascinated by numerous Shiva Lingas in the temple. Don’t try to count! Get mesmerized by the massive Shiva Linga – the tallest in the world – and Nandi. Spend 45 minutes in this place.
4.15 PM – Depart for Bangalore. Reach home safely.
