Valentine’s day | 8 Quiet Hill Getaways from Bangalore!

Getaways from Bangalore which are quiet and lovely for this Valentine’s day? Yes, with Valentine’s day round the corner why not gift a quiet trip in the hills for your loved one?

We thought of sharing some delightful places in the hills in South India. We chose them because they are not big. Not more than 3 to 6 rooms at the maximum. This means quietude. These are small little places with excellent location, amenities and great food. Some of them have been stayed in by us and some recommended by like-minded friends who have been there.

The lake in Bettadamalali estate

One of the lovely getaways from Bangalore in the middle of 300 acre coffee estate in rolling hills of Western ghats. Three large lovely rooms and a cottage. Excellent food. A beautiful lake in the middle of the state where you can go for lazy boating. Go for long walks inside the estate. If you are little adventurous then you can go for a small trek to the top of the hill. If you are a coffee lover, you can’t get better coffee than this place who have been awarded by Elly of Italy!

Parisons Plantation experiences

getaways from bangalore

We remember reading about these lovely British bungalows in a coffee table book on South India tea plantations in Sinnadorai Bungalow, Valparai. In a place which is crowded with resorts and homestays, Parisons stands apart. Imagine staying in a beautifully refurbished British bungalow amidst 4000 acres of green tea estate! Add to it impeccable “Tea estate” service, you have the best in class! Stay in any of the two bungalows – Cherkkara or Talapoya. And of course, don’t forget to drink some nice cups of tea!

Bala and Vasu’s is a house with organic garden around! Peaceful gardens well planted with fruit trees surround this unique Kodaikanal house in lovely Kodai hills. Everything you eat here is grown in the farm. Away from the hustle bustle of Kodai town, this is the place you will love to relax and spend some lovely moments ! As Bala says, the tagline -“Where you feel like a friend, not just a guest” – is the credo of the place.

2 Red Lynch bungalow

gateways from bangalore

The fact that we are partial to heritage bungalows is known if you see this list! It is nice to see the families preserving it for future generations to experience it. Red Lynch is one of them. Situated close to Kodai lake but still away from it, this English home of more than 100 years with beautiful garden is a place to be! It also has another interesting trivia. It is the house of famous Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan!

We have stayed in their excellent larger resort – Kurumba village – much before it became hugely popular. Tea Nest is small & cosy. The rooms are named after the tea grown on the estate! Having heard rave review from friends, we had to include them here!
